BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Business Engagement Committee develops and implements strategies to engage employers in the workforce development system and ensures the workforce system is responsive to employer needs.
Meetings are held on the third Friday of every month without a full BWDB meeting. They alternate between Danko Arlington (4800 E. Wabash Avenue) and Southway Builders (1318 E. Fort Ave), and start at 9am. The date for the first meeting of 2019 is pending.
The Business Engagement Committee is developing a portfolio of Industry Sector Partnerships; convening employers and training providers to better align business’ human resource needs with training curricula and program design. Beginning with the Hospitality & Retail Industry, which represents a substantial portion of the region’s employment, the Committee will bring together major employers and an already robust training community to discuss what is needed to streamline existing paths from training to employment.
Targeting the industries that are projected to grow their hiring potential in the region, the Committee plans to expand this work to five additional sectors: Healthcare, IT, Manufacturing, Professional Services, and Transportation/Logistics.
